About

Don't just let your books gather dust. Read them!

I am Mina Deocareza, a writer and editor from Mandaluyong City, Philippines. Maalikabook is my book blog.

No matter how busy I am with my work as a copy editor for an international news website, my responsibilities as the editorial director for a local menstrual cup brand, my requirements for grad school, and my personal writing projects, I still try to read. This year, in fact, my goal is to read at least 24 books for fun. It means that number is on the top of whatever I need to read for school and work.

I created this blog so I can share my thoughts about some of the books I have read and want to read. I also like to talk about reading and literacy here, believing that my posts might help inspire people to pick up a book again or even just shed a light on some reading-related topics other people have been so curious about.

Why "Maalikabook?"

"Maalikabook" is a combination of the Tagalog word "maalikabok," which means "dusty," and the English word "book."
